As typos and errors are discovered, I will post them here. Thanks in
advance (with chagrin) to everyone taking the time and trouble to
let me know about mistakes! ...
- p 43 Ex 2.01 Should only be two probabilities 1/16, not three.
- p 60 Ex 3.04 Should only be two probabilities 1/16, not three.
- p 65 line -2 at far right (4/5)^4 should be (1/5)^4
- p 65 line -1 at far right (4/5)^4 should be (1/5)^4
- p 80 line -2, the codeword 100 should be 101
- p 80 (and p 387) Ex 4.01 The probability that the binary word 01
is transmitted without error is (1-0.25)^2, not 1 - (0.25)^2. (The
latter is the probability of both bits being flipped.)
- p 98 last line should be =(as+br)*(mn/g) = (as+br)*L
- p 103 middle of page display should be 6 = 2*3 =
(1+sqrt{-5})*(1-sqrt{-5})
- p 103 line -3 should be =(ab-5bd)+(ad+bc_sqrt(-5) ...
- p 203 boldface text should read "That is, the probability of a
correctable error is 0.8532"
- p 208 before fourth display, "iss" should be "is"
- p 232 for non-existence of a code by the Singleton bound, the
condition should be k+d ≥ n (rather than the opposite direction of
inequality).
- p 232 Probably better to call a code that meets the Singleton
Bound Maximum Distance Separable rather than Minimum
Distance Separable.
- p 387 solution 4.01 should read 1-(3/4)^2
- p 387 solution 4.02 should read 1-(5/6)^4
- p 388 solution 6.37 should read 8=25*1112-18*1544
- p 390 solution 12.14, the fourth vector in the rowspace should be
(1_1_1_0)
