1. Click on the icon of the device to get console access.
A telnet session to a Digi terminal server will be started. Instead of using the default telnet port of 23, the telnet port of 2000 plus the terminal server port number will be used (i.e. 2001 for port 1, 2002 for port 2, etc.).
A Login will appear in the telnet window similar to this:

2. Enter the login name of root.
After entering the login name that was given, a Passwd prompt will appear in the telnet
window:

3. Enter the root password.
Enter the password that was given and hit the return key twice to get to the console of
the router.
When logging in for the first time, the output from the console should look like the router or
switch is starting the setup mode process.
The output on the console may look something like this:

% Please answer 'yes' or 'no'.
Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:
If the return key was pressed more than once, the router may be further along in the setup mode process.
