HAWC+ imaging polarimetry of OMC-1 in Orion. The Orion Bar is the linear
feature to the SE and BN-KL is the bright region just NW of the center. Note
that the position angle of the magnetic field as seen at 53 microns is
perpendicular to the field as seen at longer wavelengths. The NIR
polarimetry of BN, which samples ALL of the dust in FRONT of BN independent
of dust temperature, agrees with the longer wavelength emission. The 53
micron emission preferentially samples the hotter dust surrounding BN, and
that dust must have a magnetic field perpendicular to the cooler dust and
the dust in front and at longer wavelengths. Chuss
