Using a thin film of Cu-Al-Ni alloy, Richard J. Cui and R. D. James of the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics Department of the University of Minnesota were able to experimentally confirm the possibility of the formation of a tent. An indenter of a suitable shape was used. Upon heating the film, the tent collapses back to a flat austenite.
