Directional Derivative Example

Don't bother trying to understand the commands here; it's just intended to let people run the interactive example without having to launch a web browser.  If you'd prefer to do it from within Mathematica, simply evaluate the next cell.  After the window with the picture has popped up, you can collapse this subsection again.
