Textbook: A Friendly Introduction to Numerical Analysis by Brian Bradie. The first semester will cover chapters 1-5.

Grading scheme:

Homework: Homework problems will be assigned most weeks. They are due one week after assignment. Several homework problems will involve Matlab programming. Homework assignments will be posted here.

Prerequisites:

Midterms: There will be two midterm examinations. The first midterm will be a lab project during October. Students will be working both theoretically and computationally on a given topic and will need to submit a term paper. The second midterm will be a written examination on Wednesday, November 19.

Final: The final examination will be on Saturday, December 13, 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM.

Grading Standards and Student Conduct: Students are expected to be familiar with University of Minnesota policies on grading standards and student conduct, including the consequences for students who violate standards of academic honesty.
