The Grassmannian

Kayla Wright

University of Minnesota, Twin Cities

Abstract

This will be an expository talk about the Grassmannian. This is a buzzword that floats around the department that I wish I would have learned about sooner in my graduate career! We will begin the talk by motivating why the Grassmannian is a natural object to study with some enumerative geometry questions. It turns out these enumerative geometry questions gave birth to an area called Schubert calculus that we will be getting a glimpse into. From here, we will make connections to tabeaux combinatorics and cluster algebras!
