Professor Ralph Kaufmann from Purdue University will speak on "Chain operads and actions."

Abstract: We discuss several chain operads and their action on various incarnations of Hochschild cochains. Although the actions are combinatorial and algebraic their unifying background is quite geometric. We will discuss both the actions themselves as well as the geometric setup they are derived from.
