Graded G-sets, symmetric powers of permutation modules and the cohomology of
wreath products
Abstract:
The Poincare series of the cohomology ring of a wreath product of groups may
be rather easily computed by a combinatorial procedure in terms of the Poincare
series of the groups in the wreath product. The method is applied to the
cohomology of the Sylow 2-subgroup of GL(4,2), and also gives the decomposition
of symmetric powers of permutation modules.
