Math 2573H Honors Calculus III Fall Semester 2002

Assignment 11 - Due Thursday 11/21/2002

Read: Williamson and Trotter, Chapter 8 Section 4, Chapter 9 Section 1.

We will skip Chapter 8 Sections 2 and 3. We sort of did Section 2 last year. We didn't get to do the material of Section 3 last year, but we could have done it (except we ran out of time) and in any case I think the account of tangents and normals to a curve, tangential and centripetal acceleration, is better in the book by Simmons we used last year. We do not need this material for our main goal, which is to get to the integration theorems in Chapter 9.
