Summer Computing Academy

at the University of Minnesota
June 15-26 2015, Keller Hall, 200 Union St SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455

We proudly announce the first Summer Computing Academy for female high-school students. The main goal of this program is to teach computer programming using python in an intense hands-on two-week course to be held on the University of Minnesota campus.

The program will include lectures on the fundamental programming concepts and on the python programming language together with extensive hands-on experience in a computer lab. Participants will have ample time to work in a computer lab to develop programs for small robots, image processing, and other applications under close supervision of teaching assistants. In addition, there will be career planning and discovery activities.

The program will run every day from 9:00am to 5:00pm (the organized activities will finish by 4:30pm, with the additional time until 5:00pm as needed). Students will need their own transportation to campus.

How to register and registration costs

Eligibility: this Summer Academy is offered to female high-school students in all grades (9th to 12th). If space permits, we will accept a small number of female students who will enroll in Fall as freshmen in the College of Science and Engineering.

Cost: Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous private donor, we are able to offer this Summer Computing Academy for a low enrollment fee. Scholarships are available upon request.

The cost for attending both weeks is $75.00. This includes lunch every day, snacks and access to computers. Students who can attend only one week can register for the first week (June 15-June 19) for $50.00. It is not possible to register only for the second week.
