2022 Summer Computing Academy for female students (junior high and
high school)
We offered two programs:
- One Week Camp: from Monday June 13 to Friday June 17, 2022
- Two Week Camp: from Monday June 20 to Thursday June 30
(ends on Thursday to avoid conflicting with the July 4 weekend)
The main goal of this program is to teach computer programming using python
in an intense hands-on program to be held on the University of
Minnesota campus.
The program will include lectures on fundamental programming
concepts and on the python programming language together with
extensive hands-on experience in a computer lab.
Instruction will be done by graduate students and professors.
Participants will have ample time to work in a computer lab to develop
programs for small robots, image processing, and other applications
under close supervision of teaching assistants.
In addition, there will be a variety of career planning and discovery
activities.
The program will run every weekday, Monday to Friday, from 9:00am
to 4:30pm (we will stay until 5:00pm or until everyone is gone).
Students will need their own transportation to campus.
A light rail station of the green line is on Washington Avenue
almost in front of the building.

We will meet in room Keller 2-260.
The room is on the second floor, which means you have to take the
elevator or the stairs down one floor from the main entrance to
the Keller building on the plaza.
We have offered two programs:
- One-week: June 13 to June 17, for students with no
computer experience now finishing grade 6 or above.
- Two-week: June 20 to June 30, for students with some
computer familiarity now finishing grade 8 or above.
We do not require specific programming knowledge.
Cost:
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor and of Optum
we offered the Summer Computing Academy for a low enrollment fee.
Scholarships available upon request.
The cost for attending the one-week program is $60.00.
The cost for attending the two-week program is $100.00.
This includes lunch every day, snacks, access to computers, and
