Teaching

Notes about Capstone Projects for Undergraduate Students: I normally supervise about 3 or 4 undergraduate senior capstone projects or honors theses each semester on topics in data science, machine learning, partial differential equations, or applied probability. If you are interested in doing your capstone project or honors thesis with me, it is important to contact me well before the start of the semester, as I take students on a first come first serve basis. If you contact me after the start of the semester, it is unlikely I will be able to advise you.

Upcoming teaching:

  • In the Fall 2023/Spring 2024 I will teach a new sequence of courses Math 5465/5466: Mathematics of Machine Learning and Data Analysis. The first semester will be similar to the topics course Math 5490 that I taught in Spring 2023. Please email me if you are interested in the Math 5465/5466 but are unable to enroll due to class size limitations.

Courses I have taught in the past:

  • Spring 2023: Math 5490: Mathematics of Data Science and Machine Learning.
  • Spring 2022: Math 5467: Intro to Mathematics of Image and Data Analysis.
  • Spring 2021: Math 5467: Intro to Mathematics of Image and Data Analysis.
  • Fall 2019: Math 8385: Calculus of Variations. Here is the syllabus.
