2023 Summer Computing Academy for female students (junior high and
high school)
We will offer two programs this Summer in June :
- One Week Camp: from Monday June 12 to Friday June 16
- Two Week Camp: from Monday June(to respect the June 19th holiday) to Thursday June 29 (to avoid
conflicting with the July 4 weekend)
The main goal of this program is to teach computer programming using python
in an intense hands-on program to be held on the University of
Minnesota campus.
The program will include lectures on fundamental programming
concepts and on the python programming language together with
extensive hands-on experience in a computer lab.
Instruction will be done by graduate students and professors.
Participants will have ample time to work in a computer lab to develop
programs for small robots, image processing, and other applications
under close supervision of teaching assistants.
In addition, there will be a variety of career planning and discovery
activities. The afternoon of the last day we will invite parents
and friends to see presentations of the projects the students
have done during the program.
The program will run every weekday, Monday to Friday, from 9:00am
to 4:30pm (we will open the room at 8:30 and stay until
5:00 pm or until everyone is gone).
Students will need their own transportation to campus.
A light rail station of the green line is on Washington Avenue
almost in front of the building.

for a map and directions to Keller Hall.
We will meet in room Keller 4-250.
The room is on the fourth floor, which means you have to take the
elevator or the stairs up one floor from the main entrance to
the Keller building on the plaza at the corner of Union St
and Washington Avenue. The entrance to the building is on
the third floor.
When you get to the fourth floor, take a wide corridor slightly to
the left and go until you see a corridor on the left. Take it,
the corridor turns to the right. The room 4-250 is there.
We will post signs to help find the place.
The last afternoon of the programs, parents and friends
are invited from 3:00 to 4:40 in room Keller 3-210
to share the projects done by the students.
We offer two programs:
